Manage data source labels and colors

When creating widgets in a dashboard, we may want to rename the label of a data source or change its color. We can do this in the new dashboard.

Changes can be applied on two levels:

  • Global level: Updates the label or color for all widgets that use the data source.

  • Widget level: Updates the label or color only for the selected widget’s data source.

Imagine we have a dashboard where both widgets use the Procure-to-Pay data source. We want every instance of this data source to be labeled “Procure-to-Pay v1” and displayed in green across all widgets. In edit mode, click the Info icon in the top-right corner of the dashboard.

Manage002

This opens the Settings panel, listing all data sources used in the dashboard. To edit the Procure-to-Pay data source’s label and color, hover over the data source and click the Edit (pen) icon.

Manage003

Edit the Label and choose the scope for the update in Apply changes to.

Select whether the change applies only to new widgets that use this data source, or to all widgets, including existing ones.

We can also update the default color for the data source. Select a new color (e.g., green) and choose the scope in Apply changes to (New data sources or All data sources).

Manage005

Click Apply to save this change. All affected widgets are updated to use the new label and color.

Manage006

We can also manage the label and color for a specific widget. Select the widget, then open the Source tab in the Settings panel.

Manage007

In this example, we have filtered the Claims Management data source to retain events in the Approval stage. To make this clear, edit the label. In the Label field, click and edit the text.

Manage008

If we only want to change this widget’s color (without changing the global color), click the icon next to the data source label.

Manage009

Select the new color. The widget updates immediately to reflect the change.
