Operate the digital agent

After the installation of the digital agent on a PC, the agent does not collect or send data about the PC until the user joins a project. A project specifies what data to collect and how the collected data will be processed. Creating a project is typically done by the Process Analyst. To learn how to create a project, see Manage a task mining project.

Join a Project

When a project is created, agents added to the project are requested to join the project. A window appears displaying the project name and description. We can join the project or reject the request. To join the project, click Join The Project.

In the Task Mining cockpit, the PC status appears as Joined.

Now the agent sends data based on the configuration in the data collection configuration file.

Note

If the user rejects the request to join, the agent will not collect data from the PC.

Leave a project

At any point, an agent can leave a project. When an agent leaves a project, the PC stops sending task mining data to the project. To leave a project, right-click on the Apromore icon in the overflow indicator.

Click Show Project Information.

We see the project details. Click Leave Project to exit the project.

The status of the agent in Apromore is changed to “Not Joined”.

The agent can rejoin the project at any point. Right-click the Apromore icon in the overflow indicator and click Join The Project.

Pause contribution to a project

When an agent pauses contribution to a project, the agent PC stops sending task mining data to the project until the user explicitly resumes it. To pause a project, right-click the overflow indicator and click Pause.

The agent can resume contribution to the project at any time.

Note

When a user pauses contribution to a project, the agent automatically resumes when the PC is rebooted.

If the user does not want the digital agent to operate on their PC, they can click Exit.

The digital agent will be closed and consequently, will not collect data from the PC. To continue collecting data, we need to manually open the “Apromore Digital Agent” application.

Note

The agent runs automatically upon rebooting the PC. Hence, when the PC is rebooted, the agent starts collecting data again. To not contribute to a project even after a reboot, we recommend leaving the project. To learn about leaving a project, see Leave a project.
