Create/edit process model

The editor allows one to edit, save, and export (BPMN) process models. To access the editor, double click on the process model you want to edit in the repository browser. The image below shows a snapshot of the editor environment. On the left, the palette containing the BPMN elements. To add any of these elements to the process model, drag-and-drop it on the desired location.


Save model

At the top of the editor, a menu shows the icons of the essential functionalities provided within the editor. The first icon starting from the left, allows us to save the model.


When selected this option, the following message-box appears.


We can choose the version number of the process and the branch (folder) to save it. Each process version is kept in the memory, and it is possible to retrieve any of it at any time (more details on how to access the older versions of a process model come below).

Save a copy of a model

If we want to save a copy of the process model, we can click on the menu’s second icon, as shown below.


Save a copy allows us to duplicate the process model in the repository, rename it, and restart the version counter from 1.0.

Export model

The third icon exports the process model in the format .SVG. The fourth and fifth icons export the process model in the formats .BPMN and PDF (respectively), as pictured below.



Remember to allow pop-up windows before exporting the process, otherwise, the export may fail.


The next two icons allow to undo and redo changes applied to the process model.


Zoom-in/Zoom-out/Fit to screen

The two zoom lenses allow to zoom-in and zoom-out. If we want to fit your model dynamically when you resize your browser screen, click on the Fit to screen icon.


Change the font size

We can change the font size used for the activities` names by clicking the Change font size icon.


Change font size slider appears. Adjust as per preferences.


Create,hide and unhide comments

To specify some details about the process activities, we can create comments. To leave a comment, click on the activity and the image9.1 button next to it.


A comment window appears. Type the comment. Press Enter.


To delete a comment, click on the textual part of the comment and click x.


Hide/unhide comments button allows to hide and show comments next to the activities.



Create custom attributes for BPMN elements

To attach custom attributes such as “cost”, “priority”, or “risk” to a given activity, click on the activity, and choose the Metadata subsection of the Properties drawer. Click on + next to Add property. Type the attribute name and value.


To delete attribute(s) attached to a given activity, click on x next to the attribute`s name and value.


To attach custom visuals (images & icons) to a given activity, click on the activity, and choose the Attachments subsection of the Properties drawer. The image can be uploaded either from your PC using Image Upload - > Choose file or by inserting the image link to the Link for image field.


In the example below, the image was uploaded from the local machine. When the upload is complete, the image appears next to the activity. We can type the image name using Text for image field.The name appears on the process model right below the image. To change the size or placing of the image, drag and drop it.


To delete the image from the process model, click on the Remove button next to the Image upload field.


To attach an icon to the activity, click on Add icon and choose the icon from the icons list offered below. Type the name in the Text field to name the icon. To insert a hyperlink to the icon`s name, fill the link URL to the URL field. Both icon and its name will appear near the activity it is attached to.


To delete the icon from the process model, click on the Remove button next to the the icon and its name.


Hide/unhide attachments button allows to hide and show attachments next to the activities.


Publish model

To make the model accessible for the other authorised Apromore users in Viewer mode, we can share the model URL using the Publish model button.


Publish model window appears, containing a link to the model. Click on image12.2 to copy the link.


Use the slider next to the link to make the model viewable or not viewable via the link. To finalise, click OK.


Access an older version of a process model

To access older versions of a process model, select the process model in the repository. Please select the version we want to edit from the tab on the left bottom corner (as highlighted in the screenshot), and either double-click on it or right click on the file and the Edit Model.
